My Aunt Shirley

On Saturday, Feb. 2, Shirley Claire Reed joyfully entered her Savior’s presence. Shirley was born July 12, 1927, and resided in Itasca county most of her life. Shirley was preceded in death by Marion, her husband of 56 years, parents Clifford and Claire Miller, brothers Donald Miller and Darrell Miller, and daughter Judy Reed.

Shirley attended Bemidji College. She worked at many jobs: telephone operator, Kremer’s department store, Koochiching-Itasca Head Start and the family bait business. Shirley loved playing board games, following the Vikings, playing golf, almost all sports, reading, and talking with friends. Fiercely independent, a model of resiliency, naturally curious, deeply Christian, and a wonderful mother, Shirley will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Shirley is survived by daughters Jacki (a.k.a. Shirley Ann) Kuhlmey of Tacoma, WA., Mardelle Tomasch (Dale) of Puyallup, WA., Rev. Timothy Reed (Jo Ann) of Pueblo, CO., Randy Reed (Bobbi) of Peoria, AZ., Gary Reed (Jackie) of Brush Prairie, WA., and Paul Reed of Deer River MN. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
