God is for You

What an encouraging morning devotion, I wanted to share it with you..................

God is for you no matter who is against you. If the devil tells you that God is against you, reject the lie and declare the truth, “God is for me, His word declares it, the death of His Son upon the cross demonstrates it, and His mercy and grace affirm it everyday to my heart.”
God is for you, not because you have a nice personality, a great smile, a strong arm, a witty way, a cleaver disposition, self-discipline, or a lively imagination;
God is for you, not because you go to church, because you have added ten minutes to your prayer time, because you have increased your giving by five percent, or because you are memorizing scripture;
God is for you, not because you try to be good, because you try hard, or because you try to always do your best;
God is for you because He has set His love upon you.
God is for you when you walk through valleys; God is for you when you pass through troubled seas; God is for you when you are weak, when you are wounded, and when you are weary. God is for you when He disciplines and corrects you. God is for you when He molds and shapes you, when He prunes you, and when He purifies you.
God is for you in times of persecution, in times of difficulty, and in times of need. God is for you in low times and high times, in crooked paths and straight paths, in darkness and in the light of dawn’s new day. God is for you when others set you aside, when you have been ignored, when you have been unappreciated, rejected, and when you have been mistreated.
God was for you when He formed you in the womb and gave you the breath of life. He was for you when you were born into this world. He was for you when He pursued you in your sin and rebellion. He was for you when He drew you to His side, to His arms, to His love, and to His heart. God was for you when He covered you with mercy, clothed you with grace, and called you His own.
God (the awesome, glorious, all-powerful, all-wise, majestic, magnificent, holy, eternal, righteous, caring, loving, King of the universe and Lord of all) Is (not has been, not will be, not might be, not one day will be) For (not against, not hostile toward, not contrary to, not indifferent to) You (not just someone else, but you; not just other believers but you; not part of you, but all of you!)
Declare it: (speak out the following and include your first and last name) God is for ______________________.

Linda was in a car accident this week and her car is totaled but she is OK and for that we are so grateful! The accident was not her fault. Alex starts skiing lessons today. So many opportunities children have these days. Ashley is selling Girl Scout Cookies for her Brownie Troop if you are interested!

The Red Lobster with Robert, Mandy and Preston!

Robert called as they were coming to Duluth for the night and invited Delia and I to join them for dinner at the Red Lobster. They ordered Crab Legs and Preston was calling them spiders! He really liked the lobsters in the tank and they took them out a couple times for him to touch them! He makes me laugh because he has such cute actions and says the funniest things. A good time was had by all, we were a little chilled as we sat near the front door. Winter!

St. Luke's Alumni Nursing Caps!

We were in the in the Historical Room at the Museum across from the hospital looking thru things for our next Newsletters and came across some old nursing hats so of course we had to try them on. From what we can tell in the 97 years of the school of nursing they had 7 different caps.
Evie is our President. Georgia our Vice President and I the Editor of the Newsletter of the Alumni Association. No, I have not had a stroke, I just came from the dentist with a swollen jaw and the Novocaine had not left me thus my crooked smile! We are so easily entertained!

We Have a New President!

From the Presidental Prayer Team ~

President Barack Obama now steps up to lead our nation into a historic new era. The challenges and demands he will face are daunting at the least and overwhelming at most. Yet, in his Inaugural Address, he invoked the good will of the American people and our willingness to roll up our sleeves and work hard.

" I urge that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for kings and all those in authority...." I Tim 2:1-2

Join me in prayer for our new President and his office............

Terry and Jann Stumbo

I had dinner tonight with Terry and Jann Stumbo. Our paths crossed on Facebook after not seeing each other or being in touch for 30+ years. Terry is my 2nd cousin. His Dad Bob Stumbo and my Dad were 1st cousins. What a nice couple they are. They lived in Duluth in the 70's and now live in Brainerd. They stopped for dinner tonight en route up the shore to their 2nd home they are restoring. What a fun treat that was!

Haddon, Karlyn and Baby Levia visit!

What a treat for me to have these special people come and visit me on a cold winter day. Little Levia is so cute and full of personality. Her little hair on top of her head makes me laugh. She loves to smile and laugh and she sleeps thru the night and not yet 4 months old! She is the drooling princess!

Happy 56th Birthday Nurse Russell!

What a dear friend you have been to me. Nursing School never would of been as much fun without you. We were such young things looking out into the hospital parking lots when we were seniors dreaming of our first car. Funny thing, we both bought the exact car and color that we dreamed of. Oh what journeys we had in those "Plymouth Dusters"! $3400 for a new car in 1974!
I hope you have a special day and we will do dinner out soon! Love you!

Happy Birthday Mandy!

What an adventure you and Robert had this week riding on this to your little fish house on the Lake of the Woods! It sounds like a fun time but I hope he takes you out to a nice cozy dinner tonight!
Happy Birthday Dear Mandy, I am so glad you are in our family. I will never forget the kindness and love you gave to my Mom when you cared for her in the Nursing Home and for all the little extra special things you did for her to make her life easier. You were our angel and "Grandma" loved you like her flesh and blood grandchildren. Just think, we will see her again in Heaven!

Missionary Jenna

Jenna Dean, Pastor Rob and Kim's only daughter has just started her deputation as she has been called to the Mission Field in South America in Venezuela. She went on her first Mission Trip with us about 10 years ago when we went to Nicaragua after Hurricane Mitch had destroyed so much of the country. It was there at age 12 that God spoke to her and called her to Missions. What a thrill for me to have been with her when the seed was planted in her heart. She spoke at church this morning and the Mission Committee took her out to dinner after. Her excitement and enthusiasm really blessed me. What a special young gal she is! Jenna, I love you and am so proud of you that you are following your heart and that you have listened to God's voice!

Happy 34th Birthday Stacy Anne!

Stacy, what a blessing you have been to our family. You have always been so thoughtful and have had a servants heart just like your Mom. I was 34 (and you were 12) when I had my nose surgery and I was staying at Gram and Gramps between my surgeries and I remember how miserable I was with my nose packed. I had such a sinus headache and you came and spent the day with me while Mom and Dad worked. I remember how good an ice cold cloth felt on my forehead and you started forming them in the shape of my forehead and putting them in the freezer for me. I remember that day thinking to myself......."I wonder if she will become a nurse some day??" And you did and no doubt you are a good one. Here you are with you dear husband Brian and I love this 4 generation picture taken in 2006. Poor Mama didn't feel good that day but she loved having you and your little Brianne with her. I hope this is a very happy happy Birthday Love you lots!
