Christmas Eve from Squaw Lake, Minnesota

As a way to remember and honor the dead during Christmas as well as light up the darkest days of winter, there is a Finnish tradition of placing candles in the cemetery on Christmas Eve.
This is a Finnish Cemetery in Squaw Lake, Minnesota. We counted
about 100 ice candles tonight.

Friends Marlene and Larry and my sister Sandi and I drove here tonight. I am not Finnish but so appreciate this tradition that the Finnish people have here and abroad.

Florida boy makes his first snowman! He left Minnesota

when he was 2 years old. He has been ice fishing, making snow

angels, driving a snowmobile in the woods and being on a 4 wheeler

on the lake! He is so good with his younger cousins!

Barbara, Victoria and Susan Celebrate Christmas!

Above is Barbara. The 3 of us have celebrated Christmas together

every year since 1974. We missed the year Vicki lived in California, and one

year when Vicki forgot to come.

This year, Vicki thought our gathering was on Thursday, instead

of Wednesday, so Barb and I celebrated alone! We called Vicki to ask

"Where are you?" She was just getting ready to go into a board meeting!

Sigh!

Victoria comes on Thursday to my house to have meatloaf sandwiches, fresh salad

and left over dessert! Barbara, she is toasting you here and she too misses you!

34 out of 37 years is still a good record!

2011 Christmas with the Girls..........

Our group of 6 is now 5 this year with Yvonne going to Heaven, what a Christmas she is having witth Jesus. We missed her so much, I had a cry 3 days before just thinking of not having her here, but God was gracious and gave us a blessed night. We have so much to be thankful for.

My Nephew Gavin in the Marines.....

USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8)

Gavin is in the Marines and was recently deployed on the above ship with the
Navy to the Seas.....his deployment is for 6 months, possibly 9. He left about a month ago and most of the travels are kept secret for security reasons. We are so proud of you Gavin and we love you and are praying for you . Join our family in prayer for Gavin and for Elise who is missing her honey.
